CHAIR MASSAGE

Chair massage is offered by appointment, on the 2nd Friday of each month, by Amy Kozlowsky.  Appointments begin at 10:45 a.m. and cost $10 for 15 minutes.  Call the COA office at 781-659-7878 to sign up.

IN CONTROL DRIVING SKILLS
“In Control Advanced Driver Training” is an organization that works with drivers of all ages, to stay up-to-date on the latest safe driving techniques, as well as to assess driver skills.  As you may know, seniors are the second largest driving population to have accidents, with teen drivers accounting for the greatest number of accidents.  “In Control” will give a free presentation on driver skills for elders at the Norwell Senior Center on Thurs., Oct. 1 at 10:00 a.m., in the lower level.  Additional fee-based training is available at one of their training sites for anyone interested. LOSS SUPPORT GROUP
If you’re experiencing any kind of loss, no matter how long ago, the COA invites you to attend a Loss Support group.  The group will begin on Fri., Sept. 18, 10:30 a.m. to Noon, and will continue for eight weeks.  Participants from previous groups are also welcome.   Outreach Coordinator, Diane McCarthy, facilitates the group.  Please call the COA office at 781-659-7878 to register. Transportation is available. Join us as we walk through the journey of loss with compassion and companionship.

COFFEE HOUR AT NORWELL GARDENS
Outreach Coordinator, Diane McCarthy holds an informational coffee hour on the second Monday of each month with residents at Norwell Gardens.  Please note that there will be no coffee hour in September. Due to Columbus Day, the next coffee hour will be held on Oct. 5 at 9:30 a.m.

“LEGAL EASE” - Ask the Lawyer!
Local attorneys will be available at the senior center for 45-minute free consultations. These clinics are for general information and guidance with appropriate referrals made if necessary.  Clinics are scheduled for Wed., Sept. 23, and Wed., Oct. 21. Appointments are available between 1:30-3 p.m. at the senior center, 293 Pine St.  All consultations are strictly confidential.  Please call the COA office at 781-659-7878 to schedule an appointment.  Professionals are kind enough to provide these services to Norwell seniors.  Please respect their valuable time by keeping your appointment.

The Book Club typically meets the first Monday of each month at 1:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted.   Here is a list of the upcoming book selections.

COLE SCHOOL LUNCH SCHEDULE
Another school year has begun and that means  outstanding lunches at Cole School.  We’ll be going to lunch on Thurs. Sept. 24, and Oct. 22 at 1:15 p.m. and the cost is $3.50.  If you ’d like to sign-up for lunch, please call the COA office at 781-659-7878. 

“LUNCH ON THE ROAD”
Join us for “Lunch on the Road.”  We’ll be going to the following locations;

· Sept. 25 - Uno’s in Hanover, 1:00 p.m.

· Oct. 16 - The Fours in Norwell, 1:00 p.m.

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
Free educational series for individuals newly diagnosed with Alzheimer's, care partners and family. Care partner and individual must attend together. Sept. 23, 30 and Oct. 7, 10 a.m. to noon, in Whipple Senior Center, 182 Green St., North Weymouth. Pre-registration required by calling Bernadette Graycar, 781-682-3816. AFTERNOON OF REMEMBRANCE
NVNA and Hospice's First Annual Hospice Service of Remembrance, Sunday, Sept. 20, 4 p.m., Cushing Center, 673 Main St., Norwell. To honor the agency's hospice patients who have passed. Families, friends of the deceased are invited to share time together, remember loved ones and reconnect with staff who cared for them. ART CLASS
Our weekly art class begins on Tues. Sept 15.  Instructor Ann McLeod is on hand to assist you with your oil or watercolor projects.  The cost is $2.  For more information, please call the COA office at 781-659-7878.

MONDAY MOVIE MATINEE
Don't miss the COA's Monday Movie Matinee on Mon. Sept. 21 at 12:45 p.m.  THe feature this month is "Get Smart."  To sign up call the COA office at 781-659-7878.

COA OFFERS MBTA SMART CARDS
Seniors, 65 and older can complete an application to obtain an MBTA Smart Card, at the COA, on Mon., Sept. 21, 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. These cards offer the discounts on public transportation, including the new Greenbush line.  Proof of age is required.  To sign up or for more information, please call the COA office at 781-659-7878.

FRIENDS TRIP TO  COVERED BRIDGES OF NH
Join the Friends on Tues, Oct. 20, as they travel on a narrated motor-coach tour of the covered bridges of the Mt. Monadnock region. The trip includes lunch at the Inn at East Hill Farm and then a stop at the Colls Farm & Market. The cost is $52.  To sign up for this trip, please call the COA office at 781-659-7878.

Trip notice:  Reservations are first-come, first serve  with preference to Norwell residents. Non-residents may join us if space is available.  There is no refund for cancellation, unless we are able to find a replacement from our wait list.
