DOG LICENSES are required for all dogs 6 months and older. A Rabies Certificate and proof of spaying or neutering must be presented when applying for license. All dog licenses expire December 31 of each year. Renewal of licenses for the following year can be done beginning in December.
License Fees: $7.00 per year for spayed/neutered dogs; $10.00 per year for dogs not spayed/neutered.
NORWELL has an Animal Control Law that requires any dog not on a leash to be under visual and voice control at all times. This law is enforced by the Animal Control Officer (Paul Murphy - 781-659-8012), or he can be contacted through the Police Department. (781-659-8153) Officer Murphy is part-time.
Dogs picked up by the Animal Control Officer are taken to Scituate Animal Shelter, Driftway, Scituate. (781-545-8703) Monday - Friday 4pm to 6pm; Sat. 9am to 1 pm.
