TO RESIDENTS OF NORWELL
PER ORDER OF THE BOARD OF WATER COMMISSSIONERS:
Effective Friday, July 9th, 2010, Mandatory Water Restrictions are in effect until further notice. No outdoor watering by automated lawn irrigation systems, lawn sprinklers, soaker hoses or other unattended devices is allowed. Valuable garden plants, shrubs, vegetable gardens etc. may be watered by hand held hose only during the hours of 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Use of a hand watering pot is permitted anytime.
Filling of swimming pools is not permitted. Topping off swimming pools to replace naturally evaporated water is permitted, with permission from the Water Department.
Residents using a private well for lawn irrigation should place a prominently displayed sign near the street that reads “PRIVATE WELL”.
Residents and other consumers of Norwell water are asked to conserve in their daily use of water. Each person is able to help by thinking of water conservation.
PLEASE:
Repair any leak or drip no matter how small.
Report any unexplained sound of running water to the Water Department or to a plumber.
Reduce the length of showers and water velocity.
Do not leave water running while shaving, brushing teeth, etc.
Economize in laundry and washing, rinsing dishes.
Keep a bottle of drinking water in the refrigerator instead of running water until it is cold.
Postpone planting lawns until the fall. Choose grass varieties that tolerate dry summer conditions.
Your cooperation will eliminate the need for more restrictive measures and assure an adequate supply of water for health, safety and essential uses of our water resource.
