The mission of the Norwell Police Department is to maintain the quality of life that makes Norwell such a special place to live.
The Norwell Public Library houses over 100,000 items including fiction, non-fiction, videos (vhs & dvd), audio books (cassette & cd), cd-roms, magazines, museum passes, electronic books, music cds, and puppets. Patrons can use iBistro, the online catalog to search our collection. The library belongs to the Old Colony Library Network (ocln), a multi-type regional library system established to promote resource sharing among, and provide supplemental services and resources to 27 public, academic, school and special libraries in communities of Southeastern Massachusetts.
The purposes of the Norwell Public Library Foundation, Inc. is to support the restoration and renovation of the building in the Public Library system of Norwell, and to make funds available for library materials, services and programs within said system, or for other purposes of the library.


The Jacobs Farmhouse on Main Street was originally built in 1726 by the Jacobs Family, who lived in the home continuously until 1934. Housing many artifacts related to Norwell and maintained as a glimpse of farm life in the 1800s, the house currently serves as Headquarters for the Norwell Historical Society. It is open for tours by appointment only. For information on tours, please call the Society at 781-659-1888.
